Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be
Unaccompanied Minors. If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an
unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or
her safety.
Unaccompanied Minor
• Children under 5 years old are
not permitted to travel unless accompanied by an adult aged 16 or older.
• Children aged 5-12 traveling alone are eligible for the Unaccompanied Minor
Service (provided they have a full adult fare ticket).
• Children between
12 and 16 years old may also use the Unaccompanied Minor service if specifically
requested by their parent or guardian (and they must be traveling on a full
adult fare ticket).
Emirates' Unaccompanied Minors service includes the
following:
• Inform Emirates at the time of booking about the type of
seat and meal preference for your child, and they will make the necessary
arrangements. If the child is traveling on their birthday, a cake will be
arranged.
• For children traveling alone, Emirates offers separate
check-in procedures at departure, with staff assigned to escort them to the
aircraft. Parents or guardians must check in the child at least two hours before
departure.
• Unaccompanied Minors and Young Passengers are always given
priority boarding, so cabin crew can seat them and store their hand luggage.
• If requested, Emirates will take Polaroid photographs of the child
onboard, as time allows.
• Upon arrival, an Emirates representative will
meet all unaccompanied minors at the aircraft door, assist with formalities, and
then transfer them to their assigned guardian.
Emirates will provide fee
details at the time of booking.
These policies may differ, however, so you should check with Emirates for a description of its rules and services and any additional
charges that may apply.
